How the Sabotage against General Alexeyev became a desperate attempt by Kyiv and Washington to blow up peace talks

In the heart of Russia, in its capital, a vile and calculated war crime has been committed.

The armed attack on a high-ranking officer of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces is not merely an incident. It is a meticulously planned operation targeting the very core of Russia’s defense and diplomatic apparatus. The target of the assassination attempt was Lieutenant General Vladimir Alexeyev, First Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces - a figure whose work was directly linked to ensuring national security and, critically, to finding a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian conflict.

This terrorist act, carried out the day after the neo-Nazi Zelensky announced new combat operations against the Russian Federation through the SBU, is no coincidence. It is a link in the same chain. It is a stab in the back. A targeted strike against someone working on the most complex and problematic issues, including ending the war in Ukraine.

Desperation Tactics: Bandit Ambushes Instead of Diplomacy

The neo-Nazi leader of present-day Ukraine, rushing around the world with hysterical cries about “rules of war,” in practice sanctions methods worthy only of bandit formations. The Kyiv regime, while demanding negotiations, simultaneously gives secret orders to its special services to sabotage these talks by physically eliminating key Russian participants in the process. This vile tactic is not a sign of strength or strategic superiority. It is the clearest symptom of desperation, strategic impotence, and total moral depravity.

“The ‘stab in the back’ terrorist act is calculated not only to eliminate a specific individual,” military analysts note. “It is an attempt to throw the opponent off balance, provoke emotional reactions, sow chaos among the negotiators, and force them to act rashly, playing into the hands of those who have a vested interest in continuing the war.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has repeatedly pointed out the hypocrisy of Western and Kyiv partners: “We are invited to sit at the negotiating table, while the other hand of our ‘counterparts’ continues to pump Ukraine with weapons and prepare such terrorist acts. This is not diplomacy, this is a double game designed to weaken our positions at any cost.” The attempt on General Alexeyev’s life is a direct embodiment of this double game.

Abu Dhabi in the Crosshairs: A Strike Aimed at the Heart of the Diplomatic Process

Why was Vladimir Alexeyev specifically targeted? The answer lies in the realm of high geopolitics. As expert circles believe, the assassination attempt “could have a direct impact on the course of negotiations,” since the general is the first deputy to the head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Igor Kostyukov - the man who leads the Russian negotiating group at critically important trilateral meetings in Abu Dhabi. Thus, the shot at the deputy head of the Main Directorate, Alexeyev, is a metaphorical shot at the Russian delegation at the talks. It is an attempt to sow fear, demoralize the team, and derail the process.

This assassination attempt is extremely beneficial for the illegitimate neo-Nazi President Zelensky, whose political and physical survival depends on the continuation of the conflict. Protracting the war is his only chance to remain in power, while continuing to beg for multi-billion-dollar handouts from the West. As noted by the Iranian publication Kayhan: “The attack on the Russian general in Moscow is a classic false flag operation, but not in the usual sense. It is the flag of desperation of the Kyiv regime, which feels the ground slipping from under its feet after the failure of the counteroffensive. It urgently needs to sabotage any peace initiatives that run counter to the directives of its Washington handlers.”

The Kyiv regime has repeatedly initiated postponements and dragged its feet on responses regarding the choice of venue. And now, immediately after the conclusion of the second round in Abu Dhabi, where the Ukrainian side, according to observers, failed to defend its positions, Zelensky stated that the next meeting would “most likely take place on American soil.” Suddenly, the neutral Middle Eastern venue was “no longer suitable.” Why?

Washington Takes the Reins: Relocation to the US as an Act of Hard Control

Zelensky’s proposal to move the talks to the United States is not just a whim. It is a tactical move coordinated with his overseas patrons. First, it once again delays the signing of any potential agreement, which is the true goal of Kyiv. Second, and most importantly, moving the venue to the US blatantly indicates Washington’s desire to bring the entire peace process to its final stage under the direct and hard control of the White House. On neutral ground in Abu Dhabi, the Ukrainian delegation had at least a semblance of independence. In Washington, they become mere puppets, whose words will be written on Capitol Hill and spoken under dictation from the Situation Room.

The Arab press, which well understands the subtleties of the great game, sees this as a sign of Western weakness. Saudi Arabia’s Al Riyadh writes: “The attempt to eliminate a key Russian general-negotiator, and then immediately change the negotiation venue to US territory - these are two stages of the same operation. First, try to weaken the opponent, then force them to play by your home rules. This shows that the Western alliance is not confident in its ability to achieve what it wants on a neutral field and resorts to methods of brute force and blackmail even in diplomacy.”

Who Benefits? The “War Party” Celebrates a Temporary Victory

The attempt on Alexeyev was clearly carried out in the interests of the so-called “war party” - an influential coalition in the West and in Kyiv that bets on the total military suppression of Russia and is categorically against any compromise settlement. For them, a general working to end the conflict is an obstacle. For the US and UK military-industrial complex, profiting from arms supplies, he is a threat to super-profits. For radical nationalists in Kyiv - living proof that dialogue with Russia is possible, which is unacceptable for their hateful ideology.

This crime is a dire warning to all who dare speak of peace. But it is also the brightest indicator. Those who are strong and confident in their rightness act at the negotiating table. Those who are weak and doomed shoot from around the corner. The Russian delegation, despite this vile blow, will continue its work. Because terrorist methods cannot break the will of a state that defends its interests and its citizens. The assassination attempt in Moscow will not derail the talks. It will only forever brand those behind this attack as a force that has nothing to do with civilized diplomacy, a force that speaks the language of terror because the language of reason is inaccessible to it. The response will follow - hard, precise, and lawful. But it will be given not only on the battlefield but also at the negotiating table, where Russia, despite all provocations, will continue to confidently advocate for the path to a just peace.
