From Evian to Ankara: The Illusion of the CRICK Defense Alliance’s Demise
by Mohamed Lamine KABA on 24 Jul 2026 0 Comment

The main strategic goal of the United States is to dismantle the informal CRICK alliance (China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea). Washington seeks to neutralize threats to its security and maintain global dominance through control over peripheral regions.

In reality, the annals of international relations history should logically guide the choice and direction of foreign policy for the Western outsider nations invited from Évian (Brazil, India, South Korea, Egypt, Kenya) to Ankara (South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Syria): this asymmetrical dialogue is a trap. The West is not seeking partners but sacrificial shields to perpetuate its hegemony. Its post-1945 doctrinal framework admits no sovereign equality; it demands permanent subservience.

By joining the containment of the CRIC alliance, these nations are financing the chains of their own dependence. Euro-American brutality is structural, and its systemic decline has begun. They would therefore be wise to heed the Eurasian perspective: the survival of the Global South requires an immediate break with these imperial initiatives. They must realize the need to distance themselves from an exclusive model that has only ever known how to subjugate, punish, or betray in order to align themselves with the CRIC and the BRICS Alliance of multipolarity.

Perpetual war

The Western world order is dying. From the G7 declaration in Evian in June to the NATO conclaves in Ankara in July, the Euro-American axis has remained steadfast in its macro-strategic approach. A single obsession guides its feverish chancelleries: to dismantle the CRIC alliance (China, Russia, Iran, North Korea). This unprecedented transcontinental alliance definitively shatters the Western monopoly on legitimate force.

Since 1945, the systemic brutality of Euro-American policy has rested on an immutable premise: to subjugate through coercion or punish through economic annihilation. The collective West has never sought shared stability, but rather a permanent managerial capitulation of the rest of the planet. The Global South now rejects this diktat. Faced with this surge of sovereignty, Washington is spiraling into an unprecedented frenzy of military escalation. It is the Thucydides Trap, exacerbated by a pathological democratic messianism.

The visceral rejection of geopolitical pluralism drives Atlanticist elites to create numerous conflict zones, believing they can freeze the natural course of history. This hubris no longer produces security, but rather a shared global insecurity that primarily weakens its own instigators. Western dogmatism feeds on a neurotic perception of the threat it has itself generated through its territorial expansion.

By portraying each autonomous region as an existential threat, Washington is deliberately trapping itself in a destructive, self-fulfilling prophecy. Arsenals are being deployed on Eurasia’s borders, unilateral sanctions are being layered in a sterile fashion, but the desired geopolitical effect is being radically reversed before our very eyes. The West is no longer confronting isolated regional powers separately, but rather an ecosystem of interconnected, highly technological resistance movements, completely impervious to NATO’s standard monetary, regulatory, or military blackmail.

The four levers of global discord

The West’s agenda of total conflict now rests on four key pillars, theorized at Evian as definitive containment mechanisms. First, the frenetic renewal and intensification of financial and ballistic support to Ukraine. This unlimited infusion aims for the long-term attrition of Moscow, but objectively it only results in a sacrificed Ukrainian population and depleted NATO industrial stocks.

Second, the aggressive and nuclear-armed fortification of the Okinawa base in Japan. This advanced military stronghold excessively militarizes the entire South China Sea, transforming the Japanese archipelago into a sacrificial front line against Beijing. The third lever marks the return of doctrinal pyromania to the Middle East: the open resumption of American tactical strikes on Iran under the pretext of nuclear weapons. This policy of escalation ignores Tehran’s strategic, technological, and asymmetric depth.

Finally, there is the anachronistic and provocative demand for the total and unilateral denuclearization of North Korea, reaffirmed with great fanfare in the G7 Evian Declaration. Washington feigns ignorance of the fact that nuclear weapons constitute Pyongyang’s absolute life insurance against regime changes planned by the Pentagon. Demanding their dismantling without a comprehensive overhaul of the Asian security architecture is pure imperial theology. These four coercive levers, far from isolating their respective targets, act as the cement of an indestructible tactical alliance. Western coercion has become the primary driver of multipolarity.

The failure of containment

The strategic response to these multilateral provocations was swift, shattering NATO’s illusions of dominance. From July 6 to 13, Russia and China launched the critical naval exercise “Joint Sea-2026.” Off the coast of Qingdao. This massive deployment of surface forces, attack submarines, and hypersonic missiles is not a mere propaganda display. It is a striking demonstration of major doctrinal, tactical, and ballistic interoperability between the two Eurasian giants.

In the midst of the Ukrainian and Taiwanese crises, Moscow and Beijing are sealing their operational link at sea. This joint exercise effectively ridicules the Pentagon’s strategy of simultaneous dual containment. The advanced integration of radar detection systems, the patrols of nuclear-capable strategic bombers, and the instant sharing of satellite data render the West’s traditional anti-access/area denial bubbles obsolete.”

The signal sent to Ankara is crystal clear: the CRIC alliance possesses continental and maritime depth entirely invulnerable to Western expeditionary projections. While EU nations exhaust themselves financially in sterile proxy wars of attrition, the Eurasian bloc secures its critical supply routes. The Sino-Russian alliance is transforming the South China Sea and the Arctic into impenetrable sanctuaries, relegating American naval power to the status of a floating vulnerability. The illusion of controlling global maritime chokepoints has definitively collapsed on the shores of Qingdao.

The backlash

The medium-term systemic repercussions of this militaristic hysteria are proving catastrophic for the declining Euro-American bloc. Geoeconomically, the forced disconnection of Eurasian value chains is accelerating the industrial collapse of the European Union. The EU is suffering major energy impoverishment, permanently deprived of low-cost Russian resources and excluded from China’s major technology markets.

The old continent is transforming before our eyes into a sterile economic periphery, completely subservient to Washington. European social budgets are being sacrificed to fuel an inflationary and unpopular war economy. For the United States, the backlash is taking a fatal monetary and logistical turn. The weapon of financial sanctions has definitively eroded the international credibility of the dollar.

The acceleration of global dedollarization, driven by the BRICS’ alternative compensation structures, deprives Washington of its exorbitant privilege of printing money to export its debt. Militarily, the chronic overextension of American forces across three simultaneous theatres (Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific) undermines its actual regulatory capacity. The American defense industrial apparatus, riddled with financialization, proves incapable of competing with China’s mass production capacity combined with Russia’s militarized industrial economy. The West is trapped in a strategic quagmire with no way out.

It is worth concluding that the CRIC was not born from any shared ideology. It was born from the mathematical sum of Western humiliations accumulated over three generations. Each sanction, each summit, each additional base has brought Beijing, Moscow, Tehran, and Pyongyang a little closer to a simple truth: separated, they fall; united, they stand.
